The Council considered it desirable to take evidence on the subject of the statements made in Sir John tope Hennessy's letter, and approved of my suggestion that as these statements affected personally it would be better that I should not be present at the enquiry, execordingly & vacated the shair, which was taken by albajor Feneral Fargent, the Officer in Command of the Troops and the __ Senior Member present.
